Heavy tile delivered to a site with no dock and no forklift

A full container of heavy tile pallets had to arrive door to door in Melbourne. The freight leg was ordinary. The last 50 metres were not: every assumption a standard delivery quote makes about the destination turned out to be false.

The constraint

  • Delivery site had no unloading bay and no forklift on site
  • Pallets weighed more than 1 tonne each
  • Delivery truck’s tailgate had a 700kg weight limit, so standard last mile equipment could not handle the cargo

What we did

  • Unloaded the full container at our own Melbourne warehouse first
  • Reloaded pallets onto a standard open truck for final delivery
  • Arranged forklift rental specifically for the delivery site
  • Brought in manpower for unpacking and packaging disposal on site

Result: Full door-to-door delivery completed despite none of the standard delivery assumptions holding true at destination.
